A bit of background…
             Shelley Bishop

I remember being fascinated by my grandmother’s family stories long before I began doing genealogy. Over the years, my passion led me to become a professional family history researcher and writer.

I specialize in researching ancestors who lived in Ohio. With ready access to state archives and offices, along with an understanding of Ohio history, records, and migration routes, I can help you find your ancestors in the Buckeye state.

I have completed the National Genealogical Society’s American Genealogy course of study and the ProGen study program. My skills have been honed at numerous  genealogical conferences and institutes, including the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research, the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, and the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh.

I write for a variety of family history publications, including NGS Magazine, Family Tree Magazine, and Ohio Genealogy News. I also speak about family history resources, skills, research strategies, and preservation at genealogical meetings, conferences, and institutes.

My business practices are guided by the Genealogical Standards established by the National Genealogical Society, as well as the Code of Ethics set by the Association of Professional Genealogists.

I work closely with each client on a project-by-project basis. Please contact me at [email protected] to discuss your family history needs.
